ANIMAL GAME

By PHGA
Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Several PHGA members play the ANIMAL GAME during their round. The goal of this game is to help keep the player sharp during the round. Along with the guaranteed laughter, there is a side bet in this game. Each Animal is worth -$1 unless otherwise noted. The player holds the animal until another player takes it away (this may happen in seconds). The zookeeper keeps track of each animal that shows up in the wild on the front side and back side (Animals go back into the zoo after 9 holes). At the end of the round the zookeeper tallies up the number of animals and players pay the other players $1 per animal.

ANIMALS
Gorilla – Hit the ball out of bounds.
Snake – Three Putt.
Frog – Hit the ball into the water.
Camel – Hit the ball into a green side bunker and fail to get up and down.
Armadillo – Hit a cart path on the fly.
Road Kill – Ball lands and stops on the cart path.
Jaguar – Ball hits a golf car.
Bird Nest – Ball is stuck in a tree or bush.
Leech – Player three putts two consecutive greens.
Assassin – Ball hits another player on the golf course.
Self Assassin – Player hits self with ball.
Monkey Pox (or Barkey) – Ball travels negative yardage behind the player.
Alligator – Player’s clubs fall into the pond.
Rail Bird – Ball hits the metal edging around a pond on the fly.
Ostrich – A bonus animal. Player receives $5 from the other players if they hole out a green side bunker shot.
Eagle – A bonus animal. Player receives $5 from the other players if they make an Eagle on the hole (Net Eagles are forbidden).

Decisions on the Animal Game:
- If two players land in a green side bunker, the last player to hit from the bunker will hold the animal.
- The last player to three putt will hold the animal (it pays to putt out first as a chance to avoid this animal).
- A player can have multiple animals on the same hole (or the same shot).
