New Members Guide to the PHGA

Our motto is to promote the best interest of the game of golf thereby promoting good fellowship and sportsmanship.

  • Playing opportunities consist of joining a permanent reserved starting time (PRST) group either on Saturday or Sunday, be a substitute for the weekend groups (teams are always looking for subs), golf with the Thursday morning group, play in the monthly travel event, or enter in various events or holiday tournaments.

  • Membership fee is $60 per year if paid up before first PRST tee time, an additional $10 if after first PRST tee time

  • All new members start by playing the blue tees until 10 rounds are played. Female members start from the gold tees.

  • Players are required to have an official handicap index on the GHIN system. You can use your existing GHIN or if don’t have one you can join the CDGA to acquire a GHIN number.

  • Players are “flighted” in every event, based on their established handicap.

  • The Golf Enjoyed More (GEM) program was created for golf enthusiasts. The GEM program allows for play from alternate tees.

  • At least eight PHGA members must be present for the event

  • At least two PHGA members must be in the foursome, and only players that have paid for the event (black box or credit card) are eligible.

  • USGA rules are observed and we always assume we are playing the ball “as it lies” unless notified. All putts must be holed out (no “gimmies”). Always ask playing partners for assistance if not sure.

  • All games are played using net scores (gross score minus handicap). Gross scores are never used to determine results.
